College is a time for growth, freedom, lust, and parties. The place to have the time of your life. But one disturbing encounter leaves Willow Brookes spiraling as she tries to make sense of what happened to her. Told in five parts, this novel follows the story of a young woman who learns how to overcome fear on her journey towards healing. This story is unlike anything I've ever written before. It's honest. It's true. I can relate to it on a personal level, and it touches my heart and soul deeply. Finally. I can tell a story that is mine. And I hope you all can join me on this journey. Thank you for sharing this experience with me and for accompanying me as I begin writing again. It's been more than 4 years, but I am ecstatic to be back! I love you all, from the bottom of my heart.

The Boy Who Knew

He hangs around the mini-mart like he owns it, all lazy confidence and knowing smiles. And I'm pretty sure he knows I'm half-obsessed. It started with a simple trip for milk, but now it's a ritual: me, the mini-mart, and the boy who's about to beautifully ruin me.

Good Riddance
Good Riddance

Sometimes, the only way to get rid of the bad is to bury it. Literally. My little brothers play innocently nearby as my older brother and I finish digging. It's deep enough. He's heavy. The tarp is stained. The smell... it's the smell of necessity. He won't hurt anyone ever again. Now comes the hard part: making sure no one ever finds out what we did tonight.

IT STARTED WITH A LEMON SORBET. THEN A COLD, DEAD BODY SMILED.
IT STARTED WITH A LEMON SORBET. THEN A COLD, DEAD BODY SMILED.

After his disgrace, the sleuth that had it all has become nothing more than a recluse and a pariah with a chaotic mind. And when a dead body is found in his home, people start to wonder if the quirky guy with the boxy smiles and charming words just might be capable of actual murder. Wendy Cain had the smarts and the potential— but never the opportunity. Strangers come and go at the ice cream shop, but when the stranger she's been watching offered an adventure she will never forget, nor regret, she takes it. She's still working out the regret part.

The Invincible Summer of Juniper Jones
The Invincible Summer of Juniper Jones

It's the summer of 1955. For Ethan Harper, a biracial kid raised mostly by his white father, race has always been a distant conversation. When he's sent to spend the summer with his aunt and uncle in small-town Alabama, his blackness is suddenly front and center, and no one is shy about making it known he's not welcome there. Enter Juniper Jones. The town's resident oddball and free spirit, she's everything the townspeople aren't—open, kind, and accepting. Armed with two bikes and an unlimited supply of root beer floats, Ethan and Juniper set out to find their place in a town that's bent on rejecting them. As Ethan is confronted for the first time by what it means to be black in America, Juniper tries to help him see the beauty in even the ugliest reality, and that even the darkest days can give rise to an invincible summer . . .
