The Unexpected Trip

The pulsating bass of the club thrummed through Cara's body, a dizzying counterpoint to her mounting anxiety. It was her second anniversary, a night meant for celebration, but her husband, Chris, was nowhere to be found.
"Have you seen him?!" she shouted over the music to her friend Jessica, the words swallowed by the noise.
"I can't hear ya!" Jessica yelled back, a wide smile plastered on her face. "Wait here, let me go find him."
Cara, already feeling the effects of the celebratory drinks, leaned against a wall, her eyes scanning the throng of dancers and revelers. Where could he be? A knot of unease tightened in her stomach.
Moments later, her curiosity overriding the alcohol-induced haze, Cara wandered away from the main area, seeking a quieter spot. She found a dimly lit room, the music blessedly muffled.
Suddenly, sounds that were unmistakably intimate reached her ears – moans and muffled voices. A chilling realization dawned on her. And then she heard Chris's voice.
With a surge of cold fury, Cara flipped on the lights, revealing a scene that would forever shatter her world.
