The mundane scent of coffee beans and stale air hung in the cafe. Another crushing headache hammered behind your eyes, a frequent, unwelcome guest since the curse had begun its work. You fumbled with the coffee pot, the dark liquid overflowing and scalding your fingers. A familiar hiss of pain escaped your lips.
"Child, must I tell you to be careful? You almost dropped the glass, again," your co-worker, the green-haired woman, muttered from behind the cashier, her voice dripping with irritation. You ducked your head, pretending not to hear, and crouched down to reach for more coffee, the dull pain in your head intensifying.
