Evelynn is back after a year, only to find her old life waiting. Her brother's still a street racing legend, the mean girls still hate her, and the one boy who broke her heart is still around. But this time, she won't let him hurt her. Meanwhile, newcomer Weston Burke stirs up trouble, especially when he gets too close to Evelynn. Expect underground races, tattoos, fights, and intense relationships in this gritty, high-octane story.

The piercing whir of sports bikes rips through the morning quiet. Instantly, you recognize your brother Jason's blackbird. Two others are with him. Their engines drop as they turn into the trailer park. They're coming here. It's too early for this.

You bang the side of the coffeemaker, demanding it turn on. Nothing. It hasn't worked right since you got back, and now it won't even start. Giving up, you head for the front door.

It swings open before you reach it. "Ma," Jason hollers, striding past without a glance. Your cousin Ramsey follows, not as rushed, enveloping you in a bear hug. "Heard you were back. Why haven't you been by?"

Slipping away, you notice the stranger with them. He nods. You return his greeting, taking in his golden-brown hair and the cocky shine in his dark gaze. He's taller than Ramsey, not as big as Jason. You turn away, following Jason into the kitchen.
