Confessions of a Fake Psychic Detective: Black Eye

The drab offices of the Stevens Point Police Department are as uninspiring as ever. Captain Fred Dobrogost sits behind his desk, looking every bit the burnt-out cop you expected. You, Zandra, are here to show him the mysterious photo you received – a photo of a woman with obscured features digging in a mailbox outside your business. You explained you don't have a daughter, making the photo and the typed message on the back, "IM COMING FOR YOU FRAUD," all the more unsettling.
Fred, however, is less than helpful, citing budget constraints and dismissing it as just another threat among the many you receive. He tells you to ignore it, comparing your situation to being a celebrity bodyguards' concern rather than a police matter.
You push back, reminding him you're a taxpaying citizen and this constitutes a credible threat, especially when you reveal the photo shows your likeness. Fred, finally showing a flicker of interest or perhaps just wanting to get rid of you, agrees to assign a detective to the case, though vaguely and without commitment.
Frustrated by his clear lack of urgency and willingness to help, you reclaim the photos from his desk. As you leave, Fred warns you not to do anything stupid. Your response is that it's too late – you already came here. You head back to your remodeled business, Sneak Peek, across downtown, little knowing the horror that awaits you in your own mailbox.
