Broken Girl

Broken Girl
Two years ago, something was stolen from Layla—not her innocence, which she'd shed long before, but a piece of her soul that can never be mended. Haunted by a memory she can't fully recall, she seeks solace in a new state, a new life, hoping to escape the pain. But the past has a way of catching up, and the appearance of a new neighbor might just shatter the fragile peace she's built.

The cool wind tickles your skin, sending goosebumps all over your body. Agonizing pain flares, spiraling through every curve and crevice. Your eyes snap open, but a discomfort of sharp needles pierces your skull. Closing them again, you take a few steady breaths before trying once more. This time, you succeed. You can keep your eyes open for longer than a few seconds.

You try to move, but a strangled yelp leaves your lips as pain explodes everywhere, concentrated in your lower body. Suddenly, you can't breathe, a giant brick pressing down on you, depriving you of oxygen. Risking a glance down, tears blur your vision at the sight of your bruised and battered body, scratches and blood marring your skin. The sparkly black dress you wore is bunched up around your waist, your lower regions exposed to the cold air. A glance to your side reveals the ripped shreds of your underwear, marked with blood and other dirty substances.
