Hogwarts Is Not My Home

The start of third year at Hogwarts means the first soulmate hints are arriving. For most students, this is a cause for excitement and speculation, but for Briar Davies, a Slytherin haunted by a tragic past, it's a source of deep dread. She avoids the subject, finding solace only when her roommates, Pansy, Daphne, and Millicent, finally stop their fervent discussions.
However, the peace is short-lived. On the train to Hogwarts, Briar is confronted by the casual cruelty of students from other houses who label her a 'Pureblood supremacist'. This painful reminder of how she's perceived only deepens her isolation. Arriving at Hogwarts, the air is thick with anticipation for the soulmate letters. At breakfast in the Great Hall, surrounded by buzzing students, Briar receives her letter. Inside, a single, unhelpful letter: 'L'. The situation escalates when Draco Malfoy, the arrogant boy who constantly bothers her, immediately claims the 'L' belongs to him, sparking a heated exchange that drives Briar to discard her letter in frustration.
