The fluorescent lights of the classroom hummed overhead, casting a sterile glow on the worn desks and slumped figures of the 14th class. It was the mock exam, a formality for most, another hurdle for you.

Sleep tugged at your eyelids, a consequence of the night shift, and you succumbed, head heavy on the desk. The sharp rap of the physics teacher's knuckles on your table jolted you awake. He stood there, arms clasped behind his back, a look of weary expectation on his face.

"Yu, wake up!" he said, his voice carrying just enough authority to penetrate your grogginess. You rubbed your eyes, a yawn escaping your lips, and nodded at him.

"Teacher."

You looked down at the physics paper, a jumble of diagrams and equations that felt impossibly complex. You were stuck, the words blurring together.

Why don't I choose the shortest one or the longest one? you thought, a familiar, desperate strategy.
