Monet and the Alpha

Monet and the Alpha
Born blind and albino, Monet is the pack's shame, hidden away from the world. But the annual Moon Festival brings an unexpected encounter that shatters her isolated existence. A powerful Alpha from a fearsome pack notices her, and his reaction is anything but expected. Could this feared figure be the key to her salvation, or is he just another threat in a life of suffering?

The lash bites into your skin, a familiar, searing pain. You cower on the floor of your attic room, shielding yourself with a raised arm that offers no real protection.

ā€œM-mom,ā€ you whimper, the word thick and slurred with pain. Your body is a map of hardened, raw skin from the relentless flogging. You wish, desperately, for someone to take pity on you, but you know they won't. Nobody ever has.

You force your eyes shut, though it makes no difference. The window to your left is a blast of white against the pervasive grey, the only thing you can see. The figure of your abuser is an unfocused, white blur in the light.

Finally, the presence leaves. You lie on the hard wooden floorboards, your fingers tracing the splinters and divots of the old wood, finding a strange calm in the history of the trees it came from. Natural light is your only distinction, a relief against the sting of your wounds.
