Arron is a young cheetah shifter living in a world where shapeshifters are common. Bullied at his previous school for his small size and inability to control his shifts, he hoped for a fresh start. But on his first day, he finds himself shifting into a cheetah kitten and attracting the attention of Rylan, a dominant lion shifter, and his pride. Arron's instincts constantly get him into trouble, and he soon discovers that escaping Rylan's grasp is far more complicated than he imagined.

The loud bang of your mother knocking on the door jolts you awake. “Arron, come on, get up! You're going to be late for your first day at your new school.” You groan, pulling the blanket over your head. Starting mid-year at a new school is the last thing you want, especially after moving and losing your dad. The lights from the over-decorated houses outside pierce through your window, a constant reminder of everything that's changed.

After your mother leaves for work, leaving the usual buttered toast for you, you get dressed and grab your skateboard. Passing the photo of your dad by the door, you whisper a quiet 'Miss you...' before heading out. The cold hits you as you skate towards the imposing school building.

Stepping into the office, a wave of dread washes over you. Predator. Your instincts scream, but you fight the urge to bolt, a reaction that caused trouble at your old school. Your eyes scan the room – the bird-like receptionist, the non-predator teacher – until they land on him. A lion. His golden eyes lock with yours, a silent warning in his deep voice: “Don't.” Just as you're about to run, someone steps between you, a large prey animal shifter who calms your racing heart. The lion leaves, and the tension eases. But the day is just beginning.
