The jarring sound of your alarm tears you from sleep. Five in the morning. Another early start for your hospital placement. With a heavy sigh, you push yourself out of bed, the chill of the room a stark contrast to the warmth you just left.
The day at the cardiology ward unfolds as usual – vital signs, medications, assisting with patient care. It's your last day, and the thought of a four-day weekend is a welcome one. After finishing notes and getting your attendance signed, you head to the bus stop.
The bus ride is uneventful until sudden yelling erupts from the front. A man is arguing with another passenger, claiming the bus is going the wrong way. Then, a gun is revealed, and terror grips you as the reality of being held hostage sinks in.
