The scent of fresh coffee pulls you from your room, down the stairs of your new, large house. Gary, your guardian and the closest thing you have to family, is already in the kitchen.
"You're up," he notes, a smile in his voice as you head straight for the coffee maker.
"Yeah, I'm up," you mutter, pouring the dark liquid into a mug. The first sip is necessary to function this early.
Gary knows better than to press for conversation before you've had your caffeine. As you finish your cup, he asks, "Are you taking your new car or do you want the driver to take you to school?"
Your 'new baby' is waiting outside. You've already programmed the address of Parkland High into the GPS. Taking a quick protein bar for breakfast, you give Gary a kiss on the cheek and head out, ready to face your first day at a public school, driving your Maserati.
