Wicked Witchcraft

The principal's office at Beacon Hills High School was chaotic. Papers were strewn everywhere, and atop his desk lay a gleaming sword, plucked from the mess by the principal himself. June Child, a new student waiting to be assigned a class, watched in disbelief, wondering what kind of school this was. Just moments later, a British man, the principal, formally greeted her, handing over a schedule packed with AP courses. June politely deflected his questions about her advanced academics, offering a practiced lie about social skills. The truth was far more complicated – she couldn't afford to draw more attention than she already did. Lost in thought about a tense conversation with her guardian, Ginny, the previous night – a conversation about magic, danger, and the impossibility of a normal life – June was startled back to the present by a sudden, simultaneous buzzing. Every phone in the classroom, including hers, lit up with a text message.
