The Forgotten Duchess

The rain lashed against the windows of Chalcott Manor as James Fulton, the Duke of Lennox, found himself in a state of annoyance. His valet was late, a minor inconvenience that nonetheless grated on his nerves after a tedious soirée. The manor felt eerily silent, and upon investigation, he discovered his servants gathered in the housekeeper's room around a cot.
On the cot lay a young woman, unconscious and injured, covered in mud and dirt. Found near the stables, her presence was a mystery. Against his usual inclinations, and spurred by the realization that his servants had taken her in, James ordered that she be treated. Little did he know, this unexpected guest would unravel secrets that had been buried for fifteen years and change the course of his life.
