Guilted: Wars Against The Past

The loud sirens cut through the dark night, a sound you find strangely calming. Seated with your legs crossed and a smirk on your face, you watch the scene unfolding before you – a crime scene.
It feels good to be free from the constraints that held you back, finally able to do as you please. Your friend, Kalim, a deputy, is there, clearly annoyed by your presence at the scene.
“Dude, it’s a freaking crime scene. Not the movies. I mean, at least have some respect!” Kalim reproves.
“Yes, I’m inspecting.” You shrug, your voice deep and slightly annoyed.
Kalim huffs and leaves, worried about his boss’s reaction. Your eyes scan the scene, landing on a familiar face – a girl from your university. A paramedic is comforting her, wrapping a blanket around her shoulders. She must be the neighbor. She catches your eye and storms towards you, her voice sharp with anger.
