The Silver-Haired Witch

The Silver-Haired Witch
In a village consumed by fear and witch hunts, young Mariposa discovers a terrifying truth about herself – the magic her father condemns flows through her veins. Forced to flee her home, she must navigate a world that hunts her kind, master her burgeoning powers, and uncover the secrets of her mother's past, all while trying to survive.

The air in the grand manor was thick with the scent of fear and baking. Ten-year-old Mariposa, her silver hair catching the moonlight, pressed her ear against the kitchen door.

Inside, the wives of the Villager Elders were preparing a feast, their hushed whispers carrying tales of her mother, Lady Gloriosa, who had fled the village days before. "She was a witch!" shrieked one woman, her voice laced with disgust. "Hopefully her daughter isn't like her."

Tears welled in Mariposa's eyes. How could they say such things? Her mother was an angel. Then, her father's stern voice cut through the kitchen chatter. "Mariposa? What are you doing out here?"
