Shadows of Obsession

The monotonous routine of school was a familiar, dull hum. Nothing exciting ever happened, nothing that truly captured your interest.
But that day, everything changed.
The classroom door opened, and a new student stepped in. Her curly blue hair framed a radiant smile that seemed to brighten the entire room. You couldn't help but notice her, just like everyone else.
She introduced herself as Chloe Charming, and she was 16, just like you. She liked fencing, which struck you as an unusual but intriguing hobby. And then, the teacher assigned her to the seat right next to yours. You tried to ignore it, to maintain your usual aloofness, but then you caught the scent of her perfume – a sweet, subtle hint of blueberry. It was… nice.
The teacher began the physics lesson, and to your surprise, Chloe seemed to struggle with a question you knew the answer to. On impulse, you scribbled the solution on a piece of paper and discreetly slid it to her. She thanked you, her smile softening as she raised her hand to answer correctly. The teacher’s praise for Chloe was immediate and effusive, followed by a disappointed glance in your direction.
“When will you be like her, Mrs. Red?” the teacher asked, a comment that instantly ignited your annoyance. You rolled your eyes, feeling the familiar prickle of resentment. Chloe, however, turned her head slightly, her smile now apologetic. You weren’t sure why.
As the lesson continued, Chloe's presence was a constant, distracting force. Her perfume lingered, a sweet counterpoint to the sterile classroom air. When the bell finally rang for lunch, you grabbed your bag, ready to escape, but then you heard her voice call out your name.
