The Nanny and the Widower

The Nanny and the Widower
After the loss of their mother, the Pelton children have gone through a string of nannies. Now, Annabel arrives, a kind-hearted young woman who finds a baby squirrel and a new challenge awaiting her at the grand mansion. Can she win over the skeptical children and their reclusive, widowed father?

The sun casts a shimmering light on the stream to your left as you walk uphill towards the distant mansion. A continuous, faint squeaking sound catches your attention, drawing you to the water's edge.

Kneeling down, you see a tiny, shivering baby squirrel clinging to a rock, barely out of the current's reach. It looks helpless and terrified.

"Oh my. How did you end up here you poor little thing?"

You know you have to help him, even though you can't swim and the water is freezing. Slipping off your shoes and bunching up your dress, you step into the stream, the cold biting at your legs.
