Rebirth as the Empress

Rain lashed against the bus windows, mirroring the downpour outside. You glanced at your phone screen, the bus tracker app stubbornly refusing to show the icon nearing your stop. "Why is that stupid bus not here already?" you muttered, annoyance creeping into your voice. Just as a bus finally pulled up, a blinding flash of light, the screech of tires, and a sickening crash enveloped you. Darkness.
Then, a woman's sobbing broke through the haze. "Is she going to be alright? Please save my daughter." You opened your eyes to unfamiliar faces and a throbbing pain in your head, foreign memories flooding your mind. You were no longer on that bus; you were in a richly decorated room, in a body that wasn't yours. A stunningly beautiful body, you noted with a mix of shock and disbelief.
