The First Death

The First Death
A five-year-old girl, Song Jinxi, armed with an adult's soul and mission, infiltrates a human trafficking ring to save a young boy, Shen Liuchen, before a tragic event alters his life forever. Can her knowledge of the future and surprising bravery change destiny?

The air in the police station is thick with tension and the quiet desperation of missing children cases. Little Song Jinxi, no older than five and looking like a tiny, smudged cat, clings stubbornly to the leg of a bewildered policeman, Fang Yuming. Her voice, though sweet, repeats the same urgent plea, her eyes wide and tearful, fixed on his face.

"Uncle Police, please... you are arresting human traffickers, so let me lead you!"

Fang Yuming sighs, rubbing his temples. This persistent little girl, Song Jinxi, has been a fixture since she arrived, adamant about helping them. His colleagues watch with a mix of sympathy and amusement. He knows they need to move fast; more children are in danger.

"No," he says, for what feels like the hundredth time, trying to be gentle. "You are too young, we will handle this. You can't come with us."

Song Jinxi shakes her head, her messy hair flying. "But Brother Chenchen is waiting for me! If you don't find him today, he will be so sad! I can help you! I can mark the road!"

She forces a few more tears, recalling dramatic movie scenes. "I heard traffickers break legs... if we are late, Brother Chenchen's legs might be broken!"

Her pitiful look tugs at his heart, but he remains firm. "Uncle knows you and Chenchen are good friends... Don't worry, we are investigating. But you are delaying us now. That slows us down."

Song Jinxi falls silent, pursing her lips, clutching the candies he gave her. He thinks she has finally given up. Then, in a flash, she bolts. Faster than a rabbit, she's out the door. Fang Yuming, startled, drops his papers and gives chase.
