Rainbow Boy

Rainbow Boy
Kenneth Kentucky is just trying to survive high school and his part-time job at McDonald's, all while keeping a very big secret. But when the school's golden boy, Julian McHarden, starts showing unexpected interest, Ken's carefully constructed world threatens to unravel. Add in a stalking ex and a friend who might know more than she lets on, and Ken is on a rollercoaster of hidden truths and forced smiles. Can he navigate the drama, or will his secrets catch up to him?

The rhythmic tap of your foot keeps pace with Avril Lavigne blasting through your headphones, a welcome distraction from the monotony of your McDonald's shift. "All my life I've been good but now..." you mutter, trailing off as your eyes land on the person who just walked in.

Oh, dear god. Not him. Anyone but him!

Panic flares as you frantically scan the room for another cashier, anyone to take your place, but everyone's scattered, engrossed in odd jobs. In a desperate, final attempt, you duck behind the counter, praying he'll head to Mandy's register, praying he hasn't seen you. No such luck.

Mandy, at the counter next to yours, raises a knowing eyebrow. "Rainbow Boy is having a panic attack? I don't blame you. That boy is fiiiiiiine."

You roll your eyes, ignoring her. Of course he's 'fine.' He's Julian McHarden. Captain of the Football team, an A-grade student, and loaded. Talk about cliché. Suddenly, a presence looms over the counter. You look up, straight into those annoyingly gorgeous grey eyes. It's just not fair that he has eyelashes girls would envy. Yet, when he blinks and grins, your heart does a ridiculous little skip.

"Ken?"
