Moving to Dorn, Washington, was already a nightmare for Mazie Rivera, who struggled with panic attacks and the prospect of starting over. But her new ninety-year-old craftsman house held a terrifying secret: it was haunted. Mazie’s first encounter with the paranormal came in her own bedroom, when her door opened on its own, followed by the fleeting appearance of a transparent boy. Dismissed by her parents, who were preoccupied with their new restaurant venture, Mazie was left to confront the unsettling reality of her haunted home alone. The next night brought more disturbances – rattling windows, slamming sounds, and mysterious tap dancing from the attic. Mazie’s attempts to find a logical explanation proved futile, leading to a face-to-face encounter with the ghost, whom she dubs "Demon Boy" before realizing he is an amnesic spirit named Jack. Their strange connection is confirmed when Jack reveals he is bound to the house and cannot leave, and only Mazie can see him. As Mazie tries to understand Jack's plight and convince her skeptical parents, she meets Kayla, a former employee of her parents' new restaurant who will also be attending her new high school, offering a potential anchor in her new, unsettling reality.
