Merco, a former war hero turned cargo pilot, awakens beaten and disoriented on the metal floor of his ship's cargo hold. His head throbs from a wound, and a cybernetic inhibitor binds his powerful prosthetic arm. Two unfamiliar figures, a sly-voiced pilot and a monstrous Gret'nal, reveal they are mercenaries hired to maroon him.
He is brutally dumped onto the rocky, mauve-purple terrain of an unknown, desolate planet. Alone and injured, with only a hidden knife and his wits, Merco must find a way to survive this alien world.
