Night Owls and Summer Skies (Wattpad Books Edition)
Emma's summer plans are shattered when her mom, freshly remarried, dumps her at Camp Mapplewood – the place of her deepest childhood fears. Trapped in a verdant nightmare with no phone and a resurfacing anxiety, Emma must confront not only the woods she dreads, but also the tangled web of past friendships and family secrets. Will she survive the summer, or will Camp Mapplewood reclaim its hold on her?

The familiar hum of the blue work van was the only sound for miles, broken only by the rhythmic clatter of tools in the back. Emma stared out the window, watching the rocky coastline of York Harbor recede, a bitter taste in her mouth. Her father, hands casually gripping the bottom of the steering wheel, seemed oblivious to her rising tension. They were back in Maine, back in York, and heading towards her mother’s house – a place Emma remembered only as painfully quiet and devoid of joy.

“Okay, I’m willing to compromise,” Emma broke the silence, her voice tight.

Her father sighed, a deep, weary sound. “Emma, we are at your mother’s doorstep. I think it’s a little late to compromise.” He paused, then added, with a forced cheerfulness, “You’ll have the summer to catch up with Jessie. It’ll be fun.”

Emma scoffed. “Dad, we weren’t all that close to begin with. I sat with her at lunch sometimes, that’s about it.” The thought of two months here, trapped, made her chest tighten.
