The aroma of instant ramen lingered in my small apartment, a familiar comfort after a long day. My shift at the cafe had been particularly grueling, leaving my feet aching and my mind buzzing. All I wanted was to collapse onto my worn couch, click on my favorite K-drama, and lose myself in a world far less complicated than my own.
Just as I was about to surrender to the allure of my bed, my phone vibrated, startling me. I glanced at the caller ID: 'Dad.' A wide smile spread across my face. It had been months since weβd last spoken properly, our lives a whirlwind of work and responsibilities. Missing him intensely, I eagerly answered.
"Hello?" I chirped, pulling the phone closer.
"Hey, Y/n, how are you, my child?" His voice, warm and familiar, was a balm to my tired soul.
"Good as always, Dad! What about you?"
He chuckled softly. "I'm good too, just missing my daughter a bit. I'll be having a break for one day and will come to meet you, okay?"
My heart soared. "Of course, Dad! Why not? I'll be waiting for you. See you, take care!"
"Bye, Y/n-ahh, see you too." The line clicked, and I lowered my phone, a wave of pure happiness washing over me. Seeing Dad, my only family, after so long felt like a dream. Little did I know, he was bringing a dream β or perhaps a different kind of reality β with him.
