“Lieutenant Rustov?” a tentative voice broke the silence. Specialist Spendel Montessori, dwarfed by the monstrous communications relay, looked at you expectantly.
“Sergeant Valen is twenty-five minutes overdue, ma’am,” he reported. Your hand instinctively went to the Coldstone pommel of your sword, the unnatural chill a familiar burn. Something was wrong.
